On December 24, the reporter learned from Great Aim Group that it held a signing ceremony on the cooperation of LED white light communication project with National Key Lab for Semi-conductor Joint Innovation at its base in Changzhou, Jiangsu.
It was introduced that the signing ceremony was attended by more than 200 leaders and guests including Cao Jianlin, vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and He Quan, vice governor of Jiangsu Province.
According to the experts with National Key Lab for Semi-conductor Joint Innovation, LED white light communication technology is an emerging communication technology which developed countries in the world strive to study and develop. Its mechanism: Information to be transmitted is firstly compiled into a modulated signal, which is then added to the driving current of a LED lamp with the method of pulse width modulation. The LED lamp will then flicker at an extremely high frequency. Though we can't see the flickering, it can be detected by a photosensitive element and converted into information to be transmitted. The technology is highly confidential, and does not occupy wireless channels.
LED white light communication technology can take each lamp widely distributed indoors as a positioning reference point, similar to "satellites" in GPS system, to achieve accurate indoor positioning, whose accuracy can be more than 10 times that of conventional technologies.
It's reported that the lab has fundamentally solved the series of theoretical problems of white light communication and positioning and has submitted eight invention patents.
